Dancing with the Stars Recap: Bindi Irwin Pays Tribute to Dad, Nick Carter Brings Backstreet Back
Welcome to the official recap for the Season 21 Week 4 "Most Memorable Night" episode of Dancing with the Stars with guest co-host Alfonso Ribeiro (original airdate October 5, 2015). We saw Bindi Irwin score the first 10 of the season after a moving tribute to her dad. Witney Carson showed off her new engagement ring and Allison Holker announced she was pregnant. At the end of an emotional night, we had to say goodbye to Gary Busey. Check out a recap of the night’s most memorable routines in the Glitter Report!
Remembering Dad: Bindi Irwin & Derek Hough did a Contemporary routine to “Every Breath You Take” by Aaron Krause featuring Liza Anne. As the Crocodile Hunter, Bindi’s father, Steve Irwin, was known all over the world. So many people were moved by her courage and spirit after he passed away. Bindi dedicated her beautiful dance to her dad. There wasn’t a dry eye in the ballroom by the time the dance was done.
Oh, Boy Band: Nick Carter & Sharna Burgess did a Jazz routine to “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” by, you guessed it, The Backstreet Boys. Bandmate A.J. McLean popped by during rehearsals as Nick recalled how the Boys took him in as a brother during a time in his life when he truly needed it. There was a lot of other boy band figures, including *NSYNC's Joey Fatone, in the audience as the crowd went wild. A trio of 9s from the judges put this team in a tie for top score of the night.
Hubby Hugs: Tamar Braxton & Valentin Chmerkovskiy danced the Rumba to “King” by, fittingly, Tamar Braxton! The mesmerizing routine paid tribute to her husband, who she almost lost a few years ago, and her son. The dance held the audience spellbound and truly impressed the judges with three 9s. Her husband, who was playing piano during the routine. was also moved as evidenced by the big hug he gave the love of his life when the dancing was done.
Amazing Dance: Carlos PenaVega & Witney Carson (sporting her brand new engagement ring, by the way) did a Waltz to “Amazing Grace (Acapella)” with a performance by Ray Chew Live. In what was a truly different dance, the routine was glowing and mesmerizing at times. Carrie Ann felt Carlos danced from his soul and what he did on the floor was mind-blowing.
Smooooth!: Hayes Grier & Emma Slater did a Contemporary routine “Stitches” by Shawn Mendes. The judges were shocked by what they saw—in a good way! Hayes totally came out of his shell with this routine. The crowd was totally into this totally smooth performance.
Most Memorable Year Night ended with Bindi and Derek atop the leaderboard and Gary Busey exiting the ballroom. All remaining teams are back in action for Dancing with the Stars MONDAY 8|7c!
