In the Season 13 finale episode, "Ring of Fire," everyone's lives are at risk after a dangerous patient gets loose in the hospital and takes Stephanie Edwards hostage. In order to take him down, Stephanie sets him on fire, but inadvertently causes an explosion. As everyone races to evacuate the smoldering hospital, Stephanie finds herself, and a young girl, trapped in the inferno, with no escape. Edwards is pushed beyond her limits in her struggle not only to survive, but to save the life of the young girl who's relying on her. Stephanie's life is forever changed by what unfolds that night. And outside the hospital, Owen and Nathan are thrown for a loop when Owen's sister Megan, long presumed dead, is found alive. Episode 2 "Catastrophe and the Cure" - Meredith refuses to hurt Maggie by dating Nathan, newlyweds Amelia and Owen host a dinner party, and Jackson asks April and baby Harriet to move in with him.
Episode 3 "I Ain't No Miracle Worker" - A car crash at a funeral brings a bickering family into the hospital. Back from New York, Arizona ends up caught in the battle between Alex and Andrew. While Ben takes on a new parenting role, Amelia helps Meredith and Maggie through a problem.
Episode 4 "Falling Slowly" - Alex tries to do the right thing but still can't catch a break. Jackson and April adjust to their new normal with the baby. While Meredith and Nathan establish what's going on between them, Amelia questions the state of her relationship with Owen.
Episode 5 "Both Sides Now" - Meredith and Bailey are at odds when both of their patients need a liver transplant. Elsewhere, Owen seeks help from the other doctors when he is charged with babysitting baby Harriet for the day, and Amelia struggles with telling Owen she might be pregnant.
Episode 6 "Roar" - Leah Murphy returns to Grey Sloan, throwing many of the doctors for a loop. With Catherine putting on the pressure, Bailey has to make a decision about replacing Alex, while a tough ER case makes Amelia's bad day even worse.

Episode 7 "Why Try to Change Me Now" - The arrival of a new consultant, Dr. Eliza Minnick, puts the doctors on edge, especially once she starts stepping on toes in the OR. Meanwhile, Amelia and Owen bring their personal problems into the hospital, while April explores online dating.
Episode 8 "The Room Where It Happens" - A difficult surgery brings back pivotal memories for Meredith, Richard, Owen and Stephanie, as they work together to save a life.
Episode 9 "You Haven't Done Nothin'" - Believing he is going to jail the next day, Alex decides he's going to plead guilty to protect Jo from having to testify. While the hospital is overrun with victims of a building collapse, Richard demands answers from Bailey about Eliza Minnick's presence at Grey Sloan.
Episode 10 "You Can Look (But You'd Better Not Touch)" - Bailey, Arizona, and Jo go to a maximum security women's prison to treat a violent, 16-year-old pregnant girl and her unborn baby.
Episode 11 "Jukebox Hero" - Richard and the loyal attendings set out to make Eliza Minnick's first day at Grey Sloan a bumpy one. Meanwhile, Meredith tries to track down Alex, who had been planning to plead guilty. She's overjoyed when she finds he's safely at home.
Episode 12 "None of Your Business" - Maggie gets a surprise visit from her mother at the hospital. Bailey makes the decision to replace Dr. Grey, who refuses to work with Dr. Minnick, and Stephanie gets caught up in Owen and Amelia's personal drama.
Episode 13 "It Only Gets Much Worse" - The residents are excited for Dr. Minnick's next phase of teaching, but they spend the day caught between the warring attendings. Meanwhile, April has a challenging first day while taking over Meredith's job at the hospital.
Episode 14 "Back Where You Belong" - Alex returns to the hospital and discovers a lot has changed since he left. Meanwhile, Jo has to make a difficult decision on a case, and Arizona unsuccessfully tries to distance herself from Eliza.
Episode 15 "Civil War" - Richard, Jackson, April, and Catherine tackle a grueling trauma case intensified by hospital politics. Amelia finally faces her feelings about Owen, and Meredith gets caught between Nathan and Alex over a patient.
Episode 16 "Who Is He (And What Is He to You)?" - Jackson and April travel to Montana in order to perform a complicated surgery on a young patient, but Jackson doesn't tell April he's actually there to meet his father. April works to get Jackson back on track and provide the emotional support he needs, and they spend the night together.
Episode 17 "Till I Hear It From You" - Maggie's mother returns to Grey Sloan, and Maggie finally learns that she's battling breast cancer. Owen and Amelia try to work on their issues
Episode 18 "Be Still, My Soul" - Maggie's mom's health deteriorates quickly, and Maggie struggles to come to terms with losing her mother.
Episode 19 "What's Inside" - Maggie insists on taking on a big surgery despite her colleagues' concerns that she's not emotionally ready so soon after her mother's passing.
Episode 20 "In the Air Tonight" - While stuck together on an airplane, Nathan and Meredith must save the lives of injured passengers and confront their feelings for each other at the same time.
Episode 21 "Don't Stop Me Now" - Bailey and April work to fix things between Richard and Catherine. Meanwhile, Eliza continues to pursue Arizona, and one of Alex's previous patients returns to Grey Sloan.
Episode 22 "Leave It Inside" - April and Andrew consult with a patient who has a giant, inoperable heart tumor. Alex and Eliza are at odds over the treatment of a young patient, and Stephanie and Ben make big decisions about their careers. Meanwhile, Meredith takes a big step towards moving on.
Episode 23 "True Colors" - Owen finds out his sister Megan is alive; Alex attends a medical conference intending to confront Jo's abusive ex-husband; Stephanie makes a desperate attempt to escape her captor by setting him on fire.
Season 13 Finale: "Ring of Fire" - In the aftermath of the explosion, a fire rages in the hospital, putting everyone's lives at risk. Once the smoke finally clears, Meredith breaks the news to Nathan that Megan is alive. Dr. Eliza Minnick is fired as a result of her actions during the hospital crisis. And after surviving the horrific ordeal, Stephanie realizes she wants to see the world and live her life outside of hospitals.
