The Glitter Report: Week 10 - The Finals Part 1

This was it. The four finalists were in the ballroom for the first half of the 2-Night Season Finale event. One team had an injured pro playing through pain. The judges asked everyone to perform the routines they did during “Switch-Up Week” but with their real partners this time. Of course, the highlight of this particular night is always the freestyle dances where the teams are, well, “free” to do whatever they want. They didn’t disappoint as you’ll see in Week 10 highlights of Dancing with the Stars!

Finally, a Kiss: James and Peta got the evening started with a truly impressive tango. The highlight of the routine had to be the long-awaited smooch that was teased in the rehearsal footage.

James and Peta's Extra-Close Tango|They (finally) kiss on the dance floor.|James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd dance a passionate tango and (finally) kiss on the dance floor -- oh, and also get a 29 out of 30 -- during the Finals of the 2014 season of Dancing with the Stars.

Another Perfecto: Another tango was ordered by the judges with this one of the Argentine kind. Meryl and Maks have certainly stepped things up over the past few weeks scoring their healthy share of perfect scores last time out. So why stop now?

Meryl's Perfect Argentine Tango Reprise|Her second take at the style gets a 30 out of 30.|Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy take a crack at the Argentine Tango (which Meryl did during the Switch-Up week) and nail it for a perfect 30 during the Finals of the 2014 season of Dancing with the Stars.

Call Him Lefty: It was an emotional rehearsal week for Candace that was taken to another level when her partner got seriously injured. Mark had his arm in a sling right up until it was time for them to do their quickstep. Doctors cleared him to dance and he and Candace served up a fine routine.

Candace: Quickstep, Take Two|The pair hot-steps to three 9s from the judges.|Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas take on the Quickstep (which Candace performed during the Switch-Up week) and get a 27 from the judges during the Finals of the 2014 season of Dancing with the Stars.

That’s a Spicy: It wasn’t Latin Night, but it sure did feel like it when Amy and Derek did their hot, spicy, energetic salsa routine that Len called “magic.”

Amy Salsas to a 30|One of their best dances yet.|Amy Purdy and Derek Hough tackle a Salsa and the judges feel it's one of their best dances yet, giving them a perfect 30 during the Finals of the 2014 season of Dancing with the Stars.

Go with the Flow: Beautiful and flowing are just two of the adjectives that spring to mind when describing the freestyle dance turned in by Meryl and Maks. Take a look at this romantic routine that moved Carrie Ann and many others in the ballroom to tears.

Meryl and Maks Inspire Tears|"There's good, there's great, and there's Meryl."|Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy bring Carrie Ann Inaba to tears with their Freestyle dance, which Bruno Tonioli tries to award an 11, during the Finals of the 2014 season of Dancing with the Stars.

The Quotes Are In:

Len (to James after his tango): “It was tighter than a trumpeter’s checks.”

Tom (to Mark after his quickstep): “Good job, Lefty.”

Bruno (to Amy after her salsa): “Flashy! Exhilarating! Flamboyant! I’m not talking about myself.”

Bruno (to James after his freestyle): “We have a new post-apocalyptic action hero.”

Carrie Ann (to Meryl after her freestyle): “First of all, I think you guys should get married.”

Len (to Meryl after her freestyle): “There’s good. There’s great. And there’s Meryl.”

Ton (re: Maks): “He’s such a teddy bear this year.”

Flying High: Amy and Derek closed out the evening with their fabulous freestyle. Amy has been soaring to new heights all season. She went even higher on this particular night.

Amy's High-Flying Freestyle|From acrobatic movements to Contemporary emotions.|Amy Purdy and Derek Hough get a 29 from the judges for a routine that includes Amy dangling from ropes far above the dance floor during the Finals of the 2014 season of Dancing with the Stars.

We had to bid adieu to James which left an all-female final three stars-wise. Who will win the coveted Mirrorball Trophy? We’ll find out on the 2-HOUR SEASON FINALE TONIGHT 9|8c.
