Sneak Preview: Guilt By Association
There’s video evidence that Calista was at her home around the time of Luca’s murder. It calls her alibi into question. This is great news for Joss, as she can now have visitors. Harry is on his way to see her, but not before receiving a swell gift from Ari. It’s a kitchen knife. Okay, it’s a really cool kitchen knife flown in from Japan.
Joss is overjoyed when Harry finally arrives at the prison. Topics of conversation include the break in the case, the competency of Joss’s lawyer and the fact these two still love each other. Regarding the attorney issue, Joss calls out David, who insists that he’s doing everything he can. If Joss doesn’t believe this then he advises her to get a new lawyer. David also lets Harry know that they are on the same team.
Once Calista sees the newly-found videotape, she confesses to her lawyer the plan she had with Joss. She denies that the person actually on the tape is her though. An interview with Diane Sawyer is set up to help Calista save face. That never happens. Instead, the police arrive to arrest her for the murder of her husband.
Joss turns down Harry’s offer to get her a different lawyer and Harry turns down Ari’s notion of the two of them becoming more than just agent and client. Joss believes things are finally going her way once she sees Calista being led into prison. They’re not. David reveals that the police are still charging her as a co-conspirator. They believe Joss and Calista plotted to kill Luca as a team.
Karen springs the news of her pregnancy to Alec and Vivian. She’s asked if she’d be willing to raise the baby with all of them under one roof. This is a surprise, but not as much of a shock as her later catching Vivian getting chummy with another man. She abruptly derails any talks of raising the baby as a group. Vivian lets Karen know that the man she saw her with was just an old, dear friend. Their conversation was an intense one. That’s because Vivian was confiding that she’s sick again.
Blair returns from his trip bearing gifts. April loves her present, but is obviously feeling bad about her interlude with Daniel. She decides to make a duck to ease her guilt. Marc offers to help. He becomes the recipient of a mini-outburst when he mentions to April that Lucy doesn’t like her current boyfriend.
Blair pitches his idea of a group trip to Seattle. Lucy makes it clear that she doesn’t want to go. This leads to an argument that ends when April slaps her daughter in the face. It’s an unsettling scene. April asks Blair to leave. The next morning, April and Lucy have a heart-to-heart. As bad as the previous night was, this new day seems also be a new beginning for mother and daughter.
April also has a heart-to-heart with Blair. She admits that she slept with her ex-boyfriend. Blair is understandably upset. He says goodbye to April, who returns home to dish on her life to Marc. The two of them have a nice chat. It’s obvious that April is starting to look at Marc a little differently now.
